“After selling the herd, I tried to find myself for a few years and then, I realized that what I was looking for was right in front of me: I wanted to work on the family land.”

A Story About a Family and Agriculture

Former third-generation dairy farmers on the Caux’s family land, Normand Caux and Josée Laflamme made the decision to sell their milking herd and their quota in 2008. It will take eight years to Normand before the land attracted him again, before he felt this desire to have a new, meaningful work. This work was agriculture.

In 2014, microbreweries were becoming more and more popular in Québec and Josée and Normand seized this opportunity to transform their agricultural land into grain crops suitable for malting and brewing. This is how the Malterie Caux-Laflamme was born.

Cultivating Excellence

In 2020 and 2021, William and Myriam, two of the three children of Josée and Normand, decided to join the ranks of the malt house, proud to contribute to the success of this family-operated company by sharing their own background knowledge. They also have the desire to honour local lands by producing high-quality crops and malts.

Over the years, more people joined the team, which now counts 10 employees. Together, they are creating a malt house where it is great to work and that feels more like a second home than a workplace, ideally located in the heart of the rural lands of St-Patrice-de-Beaurivage.
