Our History
A story of family and a love for the land
Third-generation dairy producers, Normand Caux and his wife Josée made the decision in 2008 to sell their herd and quota to start anew. Finding the right project didn’t happen overnight, and it took a few years before the call of the land was felt once again. It was in 2014, amidst Quebec’s booming craft brewery scene, that they found their new calling: transforming their farmland into grain crops suited for brewing and malting, and founding Malterie Caux-Laflamme.

Cultivating Excellence
Armed with solid training from the best in the industry, we launched our malting operations in 2015, and the business quickly took off. By 2020, the size of the facility had already doubled, production had tripled, and several partnerships with other local producers had been established to meet growing demand. It was during this same period that the new generation joined the business. Proud to carry on the family know-how, William and Myriam are just as committed as their parents to showcasing Quebec’s terroir through high-quality crops and malts.
On March 1st, 2024, everything went up in smoke… quite literally! The shock was intense, but it didn’t hold us back. The whole family quickly agreed to rebuild and continue our mission as soon as possible. 15 months later, we were back in business! And on a bigger scale, with Myriam, to whom we’ve passed the torch to lead and write the next chapter of our story.
Today, our “family” includes about ten employees, and we proudly collaborate with 40 Quebec farms, 13 of which are organic.
Malterie Caux-Laflamme is more than just a business; it is above all a team of passionate, creative people for whom building strong, genuine relationships is the foundation of their success.
